Frequently Asked Questions
What proxy formats are supported?→
Our tester supports all common proxy formats: ip:port, ip:port:user:pass, user:pass@ip:port, and user:pass:ip:port. You can also specify the protocol explicitly with a prefix like http://, https://, socks4://, or socks5://.
How does the proxy tester work?→
We send a test request through your proxy to check connectivity and geolocation. In connectivity mode, we use ipwho.is to detect your exit IP, country, and ISP. In scrape mode, we test against books.toscrape.com to verify your proxy can fetch real web content. Results stream in real-time — you see each result as soon as it finishes.
What is scrape testing mode?→
Scrape mode tests whether your proxies can actually fetch web page content, not just connect to an API. We test against books.toscrape.com — a safe, legal practice site for web scraping. If the proxy returns page content (>100 bytes), it passes the scrape test.
Is there a limit on how many proxies I can test?→
You can test up to 100 proxies per request. This ensures fair usage for everyone.
Is this proxy tester free?→
Yes! The proxy tester is completely free to use. No account or login required.
Are my proxy credentials stored or logged?→
No. We never store, log, or share your proxy credentials. All tests are processed in real-time and discarded immediately after results are returned.
What does the latency (ms) value mean?→
The latency is the total round-trip time in milliseconds for a request sent through the proxy. Lower values mean faster proxies. Under 500ms is excellent, 500-1500ms is average, and above 1500ms is slow. After testing, you'll see avg, min, and max latency stats for all working proxies.
